I just enjoyed the best meal, in the most pleasant atmosphere, at Sophie's Bistro! From the outside, the building looks unassuming and you might not expect that exceptionally delicious food is served inside.
A friendly hostess welcomed us into a long room with a beautiful bar. The dark wood floors, soft yellow walls, brass pendant lamps, and Edith Piaf tunes, all created a relaxing ambiance that definitely evoked France.
I started with a mixed drink called Lillet Sin ($11). It was White Lillet with ginger liquor, mint leaves, lime, sugar cane syrup, and tonic, over ice. (See photo). On a hot day like this, it was perfectly crisp and refreshing.
We had escargot, which were excellent--soft and mild and served in a garlic butter sauce with fresh French bread on the side. For my entree I ordered Croquet Madam ($10.95) which is a ham-and-cheese sandwich done in the most amazing way possible! The ham is perfectly smoky and salty, the Gruyère cheese smooth and tangy, and the country bread warm and toasty. The whole thing is dolloped with béchemel sauce and topped with an over-easy egg. (See photo). So very satisfying!
Sweet desserts crepes folded over ice cream were a wonderful way to end our meal. (See photo).
Our server, Julie, was pleasant, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. We liked how she checked on us throughout the meal but still gave us space and privacy.
I can't wait to eat here again! -

It's the kind of restaurant that sounds upscale, looks nondescript from the outside but feels homey and down-to-earth once you enter. Warm, dim-lit and had nice decor.
We two people shared onion tart, tomato tart, beet salad and puffy pastry with mushroom. All were delicious and plated nicely yet had a casual feel to them. The salad had a big portion and perfectly dressed without excessive dressing. The onion tart was generously filled with caramelized onions, dollops of goat cheese and topped up with two anchovies. The tomato tart, though tasty, could have used cherry tomatoes or colorful mini tomatoes instead of big slices for some nice caramelization on top.
For dessert we had creme brulee and rum baba cake. Both were excellent. Rum baba was moist and airy. Creme brulee had an even sugar crust. -

this is a great restaurant. The food was phenomenal. The drinks were good and also affordable, I think we got a bottle from the specials for ~$20. Cozy nice vibe. Plenty of parking.

Unexpected awesomeness all around. I visited Sophie's with a customer for lunch. Do not drive past this place...stop by and have the most delicious and tender escargot. The 3 sausage special was killer, while their French onion soup and bread pudding will knock your socks off. Can not wait to go back! Jewels was our server, and made our experience unforgettable.

Really cute place with some very good food. They are a very consistent restaurant, with a very good duck breast dish on their menu. They do a great job creating a French bistro ambiance, and my only issue with them is I often want to come and check their hours and find that they're closed (aka for Sunday brunch). Highly suggest making the trip to this place, even though it's not exactly in downtown.
